Do You Know What Your Niche Really Wants ?

Your niche market determines your marketing strategy

1. The first question to a new network marketer always is: “Did you find your niche yet ?”

This is an interesting question. In each of the two new groups I recently joined, this was the first question in the introduction module.

Hubber drbj, not being a network marketer herself, gave me the idea of writing this article when she asked me about the importance of “research, research, research” in order to guarantee MLM success, in a comment on one of my hubs about promoting your business. Thank you, drbj.

Many new marketers (online, network, etc.) do not entirely define their niches.

A nutrition complement, for example, can be for every household of the nation, of course, but in order to get it marketed and sold the target market “every household of the nation” is too big. It should be divided into smaller niches in order to be able to make your marketing strategy more tangible.

Wikipedia defines the word niche as follows: “A niche market is the subset of the market on which a specific product is focusing on; Therefore the market niche defines the specific product features aimed at satisfying specific market needs, as well as the price range, production quality and the demographics that is intended to impact.”

Why is it so important to determine a niche (or niche market, target market) ?

  • Because it makes our jobs easier.
  • A well focussed target market comes to you to ask for your product.

A niche, as a market slot, contains a profile of persons we network marketers want to know in detail in order to recruit this profile for our opportunity or to sell them our products. How ?

Knowing exactly

  1. who they are
  2. what they want
  3. what their problems are
  4. what their fears are
  5. what they read
  6. what they talk about

Find it out. Think of what they might type in a Google search. Have a look at chats, forums, groups, etc. .

You might want to take notes. Done ?

2. Now brand yourself as their expert or leader, create trust, be their friend, they have to know you.

They want to know

  1. who you are
  2. what you do
  3. what you read or listen to
  4. what your success strategy is
  5. what your failures were
  6. that you are human and a leader telling them what to do

You can achieve this smart goal combining videos which are more personal, present yourself, show yourself in an interview with other network marketers who can provide a testimonial, thus creating social proof, with powerpoint presentations which cover the professional part of your story in writing.

Draw every marketing register – the result will justify the effort.

3. You need to generate leads in order to build a list

Here we come to the point. I SHOULD HAVE WRITTEN THIS IN CAPITAL LETTERS. Because what is a network marketing opportunity or any opportunity or business without people showing interest in it ?

So after having defined your niche market thoroughly start getting the word out, leverage your content, place LCPs and opt-in forms. How ?

  1. place yourself seen at the social sites,
  2. write value content articles with backlinks,
  3. bookmark them on the bookmarking sites,
  4. make a good keyword research and get seen by the search engines (SEO).
  5. create an AdWords campaign but study first how to do it. Adwords costs your money.

You have to be seen and taken note of.

Thanks to you, drbj. We sometimes forget the most obvious things, like to tell and to help new network marketers to finetune the definition of their target market and how to do the research.

I agree. I see niche as an organized factor that can prove its way to become successful over time, if used correctly and choosing the right kind of niche too. Hub up :)

Thank you, hubpageswriter. Yes, the time factor is important and the identification of and with your niche. A niche is a tool for segmenting the market. I totally agree.

Very good info about niche marketing. People often think they can market everything to everyone. They assume if they don't try, then they're limiting themselves, when in fact the opposite is true. Thanks for this clear explanation including both the "whys" and the "hows".

You are welcome FindYourSearch. Marketing everything to everyone is too vast and does not make sense. Niche marketing is a tool which helps to do a good job. And don't forget the fun factor - business should be fun as well. Is "everything to everyone" fun ? Thank you for your comment.
